About Me

My own exploration of life’s mystery and challenges has been long and wide ranging.

I completed 4 years professional training in Core Process Psychotherapy at Karuna Institute in Devon and have an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling. I trained as a bereavement counsellor with Cruse and have experience of other modalities including Group Analysis, Non-Violent Communication and specialist training in working with male perpetrators of domestic violence.

With these skills, I worked as manager for REPAIR, an innovative whole family Domestic Violence intervention programme where I also facilitated groups and counselled individuals for many years. I also worked as a volunteer counsellor for the Margaret Jackson Centre in Exeter, a charity offering a low-cost counselling service.

I have undergone many years of my own counselling and psychotherapy, so I know what it is like to sit in the client’s seat when the going is tough!

My journey has included a deep and abiding connection with nature. I have organised and guided pilgrimages connecting with the sacred landscape for groups including people recovering from serious mental health issues.

I have lived in community and family, experiencing the joys and difficulties that we all experience at times in relating one with another.

The spiritual aspect of human existence is a core component of my life. I have explored this, through meditation and mindfulness; pilgrimage and body awareness and forms of creative expression including authentic movement, dance, poetry and storytelling and vocal improvisation. I have been a long-term participant in men’s groups. I continue to inquire into my own process, in seeking to live with dignity, courage and compassion.
