Walk and Talk Therapy
I have trained in walk and talk therapy, a form of counselling for those clients who might be drawn to working outdoors, recognising that some clients feel less inhibited in talking about some of their challenges and concerns, when the counsellor is walking alongside, rather than in the more traditional face-to-face counselling space. There are several suitable locations in and around Exeter where I work, that are safe and conducive to this style of counselling, ensuring that the necessary confidentiality can be maintained.

During sessions, I will walk alongside you and listen in confidence to your fears and aspirations. I will share ways to help free you from limiting habits, guiding, and supporting you to find the clarity and courage to take the next step towards a more fulfilled life.

There is extensive evidence supporting the benefits of nature connection for our physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing. Walk and talk therapy can build on this. The natural world can also play a significant and surprising role in the therapeutic process, through the encounters that sometimes occur that may be symbolic or synchronous.
Alongside my counselling and psychotherapy training, I have a master’s degree in environmental conservation and established a walking pilgrimage route (Mary Michael Pilgrim's Way) to connect people with the sacred landscape. I have led many groups along this pilgrimage route and seen firsthand that nature can be a source of inspiration and self-discovery. Walking in nature, using the form of walk and talk therapy can enable us to connect more deeply to ourselves and the natural world.
